Training Course Overview
The LCL Level 3 Award in Auditing of Gas Work is designed to teach candidates how to plan and carry out an on-site audit with an engineer and/or client, and how to maintain accurate audit records and information.
The course covers current legislation and standards and is aimed at supervising gas engineers who need the skills and confidence to audit gas work effectively and consistently.
Please note: there is an element of home learning required as part of this course.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must hold a current and valid certification of gas safety competence for the range and type of gas appliances and installations that will be audited.
Course Description
This qualification covers the knowledge and practical understanding required to audit gas work, including:
- Planning and conducting an on-site audit with an engineer and/or client
- Identifying incorrect, incomplete, and unsafe work
- Understanding current legislation and standards
- The purpose and function of an audit report and how to compile one correctly
- Producing an action plan following an audit
- How to ensure, monitor, and measure the success of an action plan once implemented
Qualification Units
The course consists of two qualification units:
- Auditing Practices & Procedures
- Technical & Safety Considerations

An auditing guidance workbook will be provided as part of the course.
Candidates should also have the relevant gas training manual(s) (these are not provided with the course).
